Havana, 1941

Education and Professional Experience

He spent part of his childhood and youth in New York, where he completed secondary studies. In 1961 he returned to Havana and became a professional artist, particularly in the field of abstraction and its trend to assemblage.
His major interest has been the study of assemblage art and the use of different types of materials (sand, glue, marble dust, worm-eaten woods, acrylic pastes, plastic adhesives and others), particularly the use of asphaltite with the purpose of achieving specific textures in his works.
He has made numerous solo shows and participated in a variety of group exhibitions.

He is regarded as the most representative Cuban assemblage artist. Since 1970 he is a member of the Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and of the International Association of Visual Artists (AIAP). He lives and works in Havana, Cuba.

Collections

His works are in public collections of cultural institutions, museums, universities and in private collections and diplomatic missions in different countries.
