Roberto Fabelo

Education and Professional Experience

Studied at the National School of Art and the Higher Institute of Art.
He has made more than 26 solo shows and participated in over 300 group exhibitions in different countries such as Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Spain, the United States of America, France, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela and Yugoslavia.

 

Awards and Residencies

He has received numerous prizes, among them the Prize of Drawing in Rijeka, Yugoslavia, 1984; Prize of Drawing at Intergrafik 84 in the GDR; first Prize of the 11th International Drawing Biennial, Cleveland, Great Britain, 1993, and the First Prize at the First Iberian American Watercolor Biennial at Viña del Mar, Chile, 1996, in addition to receiving the National Prize of Plastic Arts in 2004.

His main collections are in the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, the Wifredo Lam Center, Casa de las Américas; Museum of Modern Art of New Delhi, India; Museum of Modern Art of Mexico; Museum of the University El Chopo, Mexico; Nordillaan Kunstmuseum, Alborg, Denmark; Yugoslav Portrait Gallery, Tuzla, Yugoslavia, and at the venue of the United Nations, New York, USA, among others.
